Why do people assume the Blazers will be so good?
I mean the Clippers when they had Miles, Q. Rich, Piatkowski, and Maggette they had a good surprise season and then sucked the following year. And with the West being so strong you know these teams are in.
Spurs = won 4 championships in 10 years they are always in
Hornets = Posey and Brown smart signings
Lakers = Fisher,Kobe, Gasol, Odom, and Bynum for a full season
Jazz = Have a very very very deep team Knight good backup pg
Rockets = With T-Mac, Yao, and Ron they are may pick for having best record in West if no chemistry problems arise.
Suns = Very talented offensive squad defense and 3 point shooting got better with Barnes.
Mavs = Kidd and Dirk for the whole year lets see what they can do.
Thats 7 teams already one more 2 go.
Blazers:
Pg. Blake – Not that great of a pg
Sg. Roy – Is very good
Sf. Webster – Good
Pf. Aldridge – Good
C. Oden – We will see hasnt played yet
6. Outlaw – Good but losing James Jones was a blow
7. Bayless – Looks to be good
8. Frye – Good
9. Przybilla
10. Rodriguez
11. Rudy Fernandez
12. Diougu
Thats a solid lineup but for the 8th seed not good enough….
Nuggets = Added Balkman thats a good move and even though Camby is gone Nene is good enough to start and put up a double double so is K-Mart and they resigned JR. = better lineup than Blazers
Clippers = Baron Davis, Marcus Camby, Chris Kaman, Jason Williams, Ricky Davis, Tim Thomas, Al Thornton, Eric Gordon, Steve Novak (spot up shooter), Hart (not bad) = a better lineup than Blazers
Warriors = Losing Davis is no biggie they gained Corey Maggette puts up the same amount of points and gets more rebounds and is a body like Davis slashes a lot. They also gained a good backup im Marcus Williams and a hustler off the bench in Turiaf. They resigned Azuibuike and w/ Barnes gone Randolph and Wright and maybe Bellinelli can get more playing time. Also the starting line of Ellis (real deal), Jackson (leader of team), Maggette, Harrington (versatile), Biedrins (Led NBA in FG% for 2 years now is better than the Blazers.
Hell, even the Minnesota T-Wolves can be a surprise 8th seed and are deeper than the Blazers.
Pg. Telfair – better than Blake
Sg. Foye – Not better than Roy but can score
Sf. Miller – Great shooter and rebounds
Pf. Gomes – Not better than Aldridge but he is very good
C. Jefferson – Way better than Oden
The Benches: T-Wolves hands down…..
6th. Love – Is gonna be good
7th. McCants – Can score
8th. Brewer – Shows he can win in FSU
9th. Smith – a great rebounder that can score a few
10th. Snyder – Shows he has game
11th. Carney – Good
12th. Collins – Can defend
……
The only teams that dont have a shot and are gonna be behind the Blazers are the Thunder, Grizzlies, and Kings.
Its gonna go
Blazers
Grizzlies
Kings
Thunder
The Blazers team you speak of didn’t have a man named Greg Oden, or anything like him. PEOPLE NEED TO STOP SAYING WE HAVEN’T SEEN HIM PLAY!!! We saw him play at OSU. Yes, it wasn’t against NBA competition, but he also had a wrist he couldn’t bend nearly the whole season, so that should cancel out at the very least. By the way Oden added more than twenty pounds of muscle since then to his already ridiculous power.
Add that to last years Blazers. Yeah, I’m pretty sure they’ll make the playoffs. Especially considering the Suns, Warriors, and Nuggets will all be on the decline.

the blazers are YOUNG hint you cant judge them by there roster they will have there ups and downs but i do believe they will reach the playoffs
dorkfish118 | Aug 23, 2008
agreed, no one can really be sure that the blazers are gonna be that great. they have a lot of young talent but no one knows how long its gonna take these guys to develop and play well together. either they make 7th seed or they drop down to 10 or 11

People expect the blazers to be good becuz of their young talent, but i think they expecting them to be too good too fast. They mite be good in the future but that’s only in the future becuz their whole roster is basically made out of past draft picks and just plain bad players(such as steve blake).

the reason they are hyped to be so good is because of how much upside all their players have.
Blake – dont see him starting too long once Bayless learns the PG role in the NBA
Roy – Can only get better and he is pretty much the facilitator of the offense not blake
Webster – great scorer, real athletic and has gotten better the past year
Aldridge – Young kid with great talent avg 18 and 8 last year. only his second season and is can only get better
Oden – Who knows what he can do in the NBA but according to the experts he can be a monster
Bayless – Probably one of the biggest steals in the draft in my opinion. Incredible scorer for his size. Needs to learn how to be a pass first point guard but score when needed like Paul is but has great upside
Minnesota does not have a chance to make the 8th seed and this is why.
Telfair, though i agree is better than Blake still makes mental errors and has poor shot selection also with his shaky jumper.
Foye – Great scorer, but cant defend but is great talent
Miller – Proven 3 point shooter but a liability on D
Gomes – Hes alright, but shows he can score
Jefferson – I wouldnt say way better than Oden but i would give him the one up because Oden has proven anything yet.
Love – Looked great in preseason but we will have to see if that will translate in the real game against bigger better players
McCants – would probably be a starting SG on another team cause he can score
Brewer – Was proven as a huge bust last year, could not score, can defend though, but hopefully he can turn his career around or he isnt going to get any minutes. the 22 minutes he got last year shouldve given him better than a 38 percent shooting average and was lucky to get those minutes
Big Z:
Performing in college ball doesnt prove anything. Injured or not. NBA is clearly on a different level than NCAA and it clearly showed in the NCAA tournament against the Florida Gators he still has to make his game more dynamic. The Gators good D killed him and in the NBA he wont have it too easy with guys bigger and stronger than Noah and Horford in that game. In college if you are bigger and stronger you will easily dominate in the paint but in the NBA post players are the same height and as strong or stronger than you in the NBA. In the NCAA he showed flashes of brilliance in a few games and showed he can clearly has the talent of an NBA great but he was still a bit raw and the first few games will truly show whether he has the skills to compete in the pros. He may even become a early mid season success like Bynum was in the short amount of games he had played. I love Oden ever since i saw him in HS but he still hasnt proved me to he can compete at his high of a level

Portland will hover around the 7th-9th spots in the West this season, assuming that they are relatively healthy. In the future, however, watch out. Come check out BBWForums.net, a very active and growing sports website & forum, to discuss this topic further. You won’t be disappointed.
