Help training for a 5 mile run by thanksgiving? all marathon runners please help!!!?

I am running 5 miles for the annual turkey trot this thanksgiving. this would be my 3rd year running it. i got around 45 minutes last year and i was happy for a 12 year old girl. but this year i am shooting for around 30 minutes. and this year as long as last year my crush is running it. any way i was looking for some training tips for this year. and are there other tips instead of running every day. last year i was so sore after the run. do you have any tips for me for training. like stretches. please help. thanks a bunch
the turkey trot is 5 miles. not 5k. i have the shirt and the flyer saying 5 miles (FYI)


You don’t have much time to train. Just start running now til Thanksgiving, 5 times a week. Run 5 miles one day and 2 the next and then 5 and 2 and keep doing that. Just try to keep a quicker pace from the beginning and drink lots of water!!
