IMDB rating: 5.30 Plot: Lt. Cmdr Tom Dodge (Kelsey Grammer) is one of the Navy’s best, even if he is a bit unconventional. Which submarine movie is more accurate, Crimson Tide or Down Periscope?
Both. I served in the Army for eight years and I can tell you that it was a cross between Black Hawk Down and Sgt. Bilko (Steve Martin). You always have the serious side AND the ridiculous antics screaming in the background. They go hand-in-hand. Think of those times where you pulled pranks at work…. It’s the same for the military.

Both movies were ‘fiction’ so I’d go with ‘The Hunt For Red October’ or ‘U571′ for accuracy, as they were both based on real events and real submarines.
